what’s cooking, brother?

what’s cooking, brother?

Dear friends,

Well we’re through the desert and into the promised land. After a scorching January, the rains have come. Deuteronomy 8 reminded us of the blessing of water:

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills.

Let’s hope for a break in the clouds this Sunday because we’ve got our Back-to-School Barbecue to look forward to. 12:30pm in the Cloisters. Bring something for the grill or a cold dish, dessert or drink. If you aren’t sure what to bring, email Karen in the Church office and she’ll let you know what’s needed. And yes: you can invite friends!

This month we will be studying Jesus great sayings in John 8, under the heading “Light of the World”. Read ahead if you aren’t familiar. There are some wonderful teachings here: to help us hope, to live freely by faith, to walk in his light this year.

With love,

Mark and Alex
